Watch This Guy Hilariously Attempt To Build A Cardboard Muffler

We’re sure that at least a few of you saw the headline for this piece and assumed it was something to do with Russian YouTube maniacs Garage 54. You know, the guys we’ve seen pour five tonnes of concrete into a Lada and make a tyre out of Coca-Cola bottles, among other absurd automotive projects.

But, this hilarious build video actually comes from an intrepid Subaru WRX owner in Canada. With the car’s muffler having failed, he decided to build a new one. From cardboard and duct tape.

The most amazing thing? It actually seemed to work! Well, briefly. One end of the silencer soon failed, causing it to blow off the rest of the exhaust system.

Undeterred, the man modified the cardboard creation and had a second try, with surprisingly successful results. Other than the fact the duct tape was starting to melt by the end.

Heroic stuff.
