Watch A Misguided Cop Force This Driver Into Buying Police Benefit Tickets, Then Drop A Few Homophobic Slurs

A Philadelphia police officer has been suspended after being filmed while threatening a driver to impound his un-registered car, lest he buy tickets to a police benefit event

After being pulled over for driving an un-registered car, this guy was given a simple choice by Officer Matthew Zagursky: buy a pair of tickets to a police benefit event, or your car gets impounded. Zagursky then threw in a few homophobic slurs for good measure, referring to the car’s pink windscreen wipers - painted to show solidarity with his breast cancer-surviving grandmother - as "faggot-ass wipers". In the end, the driver decided to buy the tickets to the Hero Thrill Show - which raises money to pay for the education of the children of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty - for $30.

Naturally, the actions of Zagursky haven’t gone down well with his boss, who branded the incident as "extortion". Commissioner Charles Ramsey said "No part of that video is good. He used the tickets as a lever to not do his duty; that’s extortion…whether or not it’s criminal is a decision above my paygrade."

Philly.com reports that 32-year-old Zagursky has been pulled from North Philadelphia’s 24th District and placed on administrative duty while the video is investigated by Internal Affairs.
