Every now and then a good car film comes out, but most of the time we’re left with poorly made, shoddy looking flicks with no factual content and fake engine noises (stuff like 200 mph).

Today is a good day, though, as the first official trailer for Rush has been released. F1 fans, prepare to be amazed.

Rush shows the rivalry between legends James Hunt (played by Chris Hemsworth of The Avengers fame) and Niki Lauda (played by Daniel Brühl, the only guy not to get shot in the face in The Bourne Ultimatum) during the 1970’s.

Fans of Senna will be delighted too, as the producers have decided to keep the film as close as possible to a dramatised documentary, rather than a Hollywood mega-movie with invented characters and explosions.

Rest assured there are some explosions, though. After all, Formula One in the 1970’s was hardly safe.

Oh, and it’s directed by Ron Howard, the clever man who directed Apollo 13, Frost/Nixon and The Da Vinci Code. But they didn’t have cars in, so you probably won’t remember them.

Rush will be released in the UK on the 13th September 2013, and with a budget of $38 million, it looks set to be one of the best F1 films ever made.Rush Trailer Niki Lauda
