The One-Off Pagani Zonda Fantasma Evo Should Come With A NSFW Warning

With attention these days very much on the Huayra, it's an absolute treat to see some new pictures of a Zonda reborn
The One-Off Pagani Zonda Fantasma Evo Should Come With A NSFW Warning

This is the knee-weakeningly stunning Pagani Zonda Fantasma Evo, and it’s doing a first-rate job of reminding us what we’re missing these days as the company concentrates on the Huayra.

Pagani is still happy to take your Zonda back and turn it into something even more special as part of its Zonda 760 programme, and that’s exactly what has happened with this car. Originally a 2005 model year Zonda F, it was the first of its kind to leave the factory with right-hand drive.

After being destroyed in a high-speed smash in Hong Kong five years ago its remains were returned to Pagani, which set about rebuilding it into what it called the Zonda Fantasma. More recently the car went back yet again for even more upgrades and the addition of the Evo suffix, after which they seem to have decided to create a set of images – and why not, when it looks this good?

It’s fitted with the same 760-horsepower Mercedes-AMG V12 measuring 7.3 litres as the other one-off Zonda 760 projects, and frankly we could look at it all day long. We’re not even joking.

The One-Off Pagani Zonda Fantasma Evo Should Come With A NSFW Warning

Although the Audi R8 V10 is still waving the flag for N/A supercars, the hyper-exotic Pagani is easily in another league as possibly the last and greatest hurrah for normal aspiration. If history ultimately proves that to be the case, then what a way for it to finish.

Can’t think of a better name for a car that came back from the dead! (Fantasma means ghost in italian)

Imagine if you paid more for your car and in return the company left open the offer to take it back to upgrade it to another trim level?

The Zonda is not going to go down easily. Pagani even attempted to “I-swear-this-is-the-last-hurrah” the car on multiple occasions but it keeps popping up, it’s like trying to drown a basketball - you end up having fun until it comes up too fast and hits you in the nose.

Pagani claimed that the Zonda Tricolore would be the last of the Zondas. But as more people found out and gained interest in the car, Pagani saw that it could be a potential gold mine for them. And it was. They sold Zondas like hot cakes. They did though put a final stop to the Zonda with the 760-Series. This Zonda featured here can be counted as a 760 model, as it received power upgrades and other smaller additions. If you had a billion dollars, you could not buy yourself a new Zonda from scratch. What you can do though, is buy a used Zonda, bring it to the Pagani factory, pay a very hefty bill, and have it redesigned to your liking. This is exactly what the owner of the Fantasma did. Except he bought it not expecting to turn it into a 760. I know him personally, very nice guy. Charming to talk to. He enjoys his cars very well, not your usual car collector. I’ve seen him driving this car, makes me smile. Really shows what a car can do when given to the right person.

Just when you thought those zonda special editions are done that b*stard is still alive and kicking. And I have to say, I like it!

What should be done is to keep the Huayra as a flagship model, and have the Zonda as a very close 2nd option.
It doesn’t deserve to be resigned to the history books…
