Official: The Ford Focus RS Will Set You Back Just Under $36k In The US

Last night, we received the jolly good news that the latest Ford Focus RS will be flipping quick, and very affordable. The 345bhp hatch was revealed to dispatch the benchmark 0-62mph sprint in just 4.7 seconds, be capable of hitting 165mph, and be available for just £28,940. But, since this is the first Focus RS ever to be sold in the USA, just how much would it cost our friends across the pond? As pointed out by an eagle-eyed redditor, the US price of $35,730 (MSRP) has now gone live on Ford’s configurator. In the interests of making you feel a little bit sick about UK car prices, that’s about £23,000.

What’s interesting is unlike in the UK, where the RS undercuts the VW Golf R by almost £2000 (and the new Honda Civic Type R by over £1000), the US price for the car makes it slightly more expensive than its VW rival, which is priced at $35,730. Still, considering the performance on offer, the all-wheel drive Focus is an utter bargain for that price. It’s also important to remember it’ll be untroubled by rivals like the aforementioned Honda and the Seat Leon Cupra, which aren’t available in America. We’ll be gobsmacked if the RS isn’t a massive sales success on both sides of the Atlantic.
