Full Details Released For Sleek New Jaguar XF Sportbrake

Jaguar has released full details of the undeniably pretty new XF Sportbrake, but it’s as-you-were for the most part.

Air suspension continues to cradle the back end of the stylish estate, automatically levelling the ride height even when towing up to 2.0 tonnes for the diesels and 1.9 tonnes for the petrol. The boot is a little bigger now, though, adding 15 litres of space to make a 565-litre total up to the load cover. That expands to 1700 litres with the rear seats folded, and the whole thing has apparently been designed to cope with awkward loads.

Cool tech features include a rubberised, shockproof wristband ‘key’ that can essentially let you lock the main key inside the car (hidden, obviously) while you go and do your adventure-sports-lifestyle-thing without worrying about losing or damaging the key. The wristband will open the doors when you get back to the car.

A special InControl Remote app will let you see details like fuel level, whether the doors are locked and whether the windows are closed, from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Upgrade it to Remote Premium and you can even lock and unlock the car from your phone. It’ll text you if the alarm sounds, and a ‘beep and flash’ feature – not as seedy as it sounds – will let forgetful drivers find it in car parks without having to unlock it. Alternatively, the app can lead you to it on a map.

On the engine front things are pretty much unchanged, with a trio of Ingenium four-cylinder diesels offering power outputs from 161bhp to 236bhp. There’s also a 246bhp Ingenium petrol, again with four cylinders. The engine range is capped off by an absolutely lovely 296bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel with long, long cruising legs and the ability to crack the 0-62mph sprint in 6.1 seconds.

All models except the 161bhp diesel will be automatic-only, and even that car will have an eight-speed auto as an option. The 246bhp petrol and both the 161bhp and 177bhp diesels will be rear-wheel drive as standard, though the latter has all-wheel drive as an option. The highest-powered four-pot diesel and the V6 are all-wheel drive as standard.
