7 Brilliant Cars Uploaded To The CT Garage Last Week

I always used to think a clean, standard GTA was about as brilliant as an Alfa Romeo 156 could possibly get. But I was wrong. The car that’s proven me to be totally incorrect is this beast, uploaded a few days ago by CT user Royp.

Other than those gorgeous wheels - pinched from an Alfa GT - it all looks pretty standard from the outside, but there are some very tasty changes going on under the skin. Chiefly, the 2.5-litre V6 has been whipped out, with a 3.0-litre living in its place.

It’s no ordinary 3.0-litre Busso six either; thanks to GTA camshafts, equal-length downpipes, a remap and a few other bits and pieces, it makes 260bhp. A Quaife limited-slip differential helps all that power hit the tarmac successfully. Oh and yes, it does sound mind-bendingly awesome.

It’s difficult to find an area of this Mk6 GTI (since this is a US car, the ‘Golf’ bit of the name is dropped) that hasn’t been modified. The engine, the gearbox, the suspension, the brakes; it’s all been extensively changed over the last four years (check out the link above for the full spec list).

All of this is nicely finished off with a set of Neuspeed RSE-12 Gunmetal rims wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position rubber, with some cheeky white lettering added for good measure.

As the last truly great Saab before the Swedish company started producing rehashed GM products, the old 900 is a special car. It’s bonkers in so many ways - from the curved windscreen to the engine that’s mounted longitudinally and ‘backwards’. It’s this unconventional approach that makes us love the 900.

So naturally when kanonjon’s gorgeous 1991 example - which wears a set of Ronal Turbo rims - was uploaded to CT, it received a lot of love. Well deserved, we reckon.

For all the mods on this 2006 Evo - from the 2.4-litre English Racing engine to the JMFab O2 dump poking out of the bonnet and the Buddy Club D2 coilovers, we’re going to have to be childish and pick out the monstrous rear wing as our favourite thing here.

Few cars will get CT readers as excited as a boxy old rear-wheel drive Volvo, so when this 242 was uploaded, it’s no wonder it shot straight into the hottest feed. It’s running Volvo’s B230FT ‘Redblock’ engine with a Holset HX35 turbocharger, and owner Martin has ambitious plans for it: he’s aiming for up to 600WHP. Sounds good to us…

And finally, for something completely different. This plucky little Renault was built for the 4L Trophy, a student rally which sees hundreds of teams drive thousands of miles, with 2015’s destination being Marrakesh, Morocco. Looks like a stupidly fun way to spend a couple of weeks.
