10 Terrible Cars You're Embarrassed To Admit You Loved As A Kid

In the ignorance of youth, many of us became infatuated with some pretty dubious cars. We asked you guys to fess up about the terrible cars you liked as a kid, and these are the best submissions!

The sixth-gen Chevrolet Monte Carlo. For some reason i thought it looked cool. It’s a front-wheel drive plastic piece of shi…

10 Terrible Cars You're Embarrassed To Admit You Loved As A Kid

As a child I thought this was the coolest car ever and my parents owned one. I thought I was the coolest kid in town when my parents rolled up to my friends’ birthday parties and play dates in this monster.
It seemed brilliant to me as it was massive, it had electric sliding doors and the back seats went into the floor (HOW AWESOME WHEN YOU’RE EIGHT!), oh and it was all plush leather inside. Anyway now that I have grown up I realize that this so called ‘cool car’ to me back in the day was actually an overrated turd box.
It did around 17mpg on a good day, needed to get fixed more times than I got washed and it nearly killed my parents as it caved in that much on a 30mph crash that the firemen told us that if we were going 3mph more, my parents surely would have died! This is why I now hate the Chrysler ‘Grand’ Voyager!

3. Chrysler PT Cruiser - Lewis Walsh

5. Vauxhall Vectra - John Marcar

When Vauxhall/Opel launched this, ‘the Vectra B’, I thought with its smooth futuristic-style wing mirrors that it was awesome! Of course as a sensible adult, I now know that it’s nothing more than an utterly awful car with as much character as a wet cardboard box.

6. Ford Scorpio - NIKMAN

The new redesign look plus factory optional aluminium spoiler made me think that it was cool. What I didn’t realise back then was it’s basically a factory ricer with a 90bhp engine.

8. Daewoo Lanos - alphaX

50 shades of shame.

9. Rover 214 - me

10 Terrible Cars You're Embarrassed To Admit You Loved As A Kid

As a six-year-old, I saw a picture of an Alfa Romeo SZ, and thought it looked brilliant. However, as a rare car, I never got to see one on the road, so the closest thing to it I ever clocked eyes on IRL was the boxy old Rover 214, a car often seen painted red. Yes, I know they look nothing like each other, but come on, I was six…

As such, I developed a bit of an infatuation for this car, unaware at the time of how it was utterly dreary and not in any way special. My parents probably still have a picture of me posing in front of a red 214 which was taken on a family holiday.
