It Looks Like McLaren Is Cooking Up A 570LT

The McLaren Sports Series range is about to gain a new member, and it'll be the most potent yet

There’s precious little wrong with the way the McLaren 570S drives. The steering is super-sharp and delivers incredible feedback, the engine is more responsive than any turbocharged V8 has any right to be, and the deliciously-balanced chassis makes you want to run away, marry the thing and move to a small shack adjacent to a twisty Italian mountain road and live there for the rest of your days. Or perhaps that’s just me.

Anyway, that hasn’t stopped the clever ladies and gents at Woking working on an even sharper car to top its entry-level ‘Sports Series’ range of cars. By the looks of the teaser image above, a 570LT is coming.

In the image, there’s quite clearly an exhaust pipe missing, along with the message “but have we forgotten something?” Almost sounds like McLaren’s first ever fully-electric supercar has arrived early, but that’s not what the British firm is getting at - in the video teaser above, there’s quite clearly some engine noise going on.

What’s actually happened is most likely an exhaust re-location - like the 675LT (pictured above), it’ll probably have exhaust outlets much higher and in between the rear light clusters. If it sounds like we’re guessing, that’s because we are - details right now are thin on the ground. But, judging by what was done to create the 675, it would be reasonable to expect a firmer chassis, a redeveloped aero package and a slight bump in power. So, it might not be called ‘570LT’. Perhaps 595LT, or 600LT.

McLaren likes a good teaser campaign, so we can expect more clues to arrive in the coming months.

If they can do same magic they did with the 675LT to the 570S, omg this car will be the best thing in its class by far

P.S.
595LT sounds like an Abarth version of the Fiat 500
600LT is most likely
605LT sounds like a Peugeot

Quite honestly they could pick whatever number they wanted. The regular 570S makes about 630hp in independent tests. McLaren horsepower figures are getting so far out that soon we’ll just assume they’re talking wheel hp and leave it.
