A BMW M8 Gran Coupe Is Coming To Terrify Rich People's Children

A four-door, four-seat, 600bhp-plus M8 Gran Coupe is BMW's perfect luxury solution to the problem of how to keep rich kids in line
A BMW M8 Gran Coupe Is Coming To Terrify Rich People's Children

BMW is set to preview a four-door M8 Gran Coupe next week. This surprisingly Aston Martin-ish teaser actually hints at a more passenger-friendly version of the 600bhp grand tourer.

Set to take centre stage on BMW’s stand at the Geneva Motor Show roughly this time next week, the car will be reportedly be called the Concept M8 Gran Coupe, and it will use the same 4.4-litre V8 we already know from the latest M5.

The roof line is longer than, but clearly related to, that of the (leaked) 8-Series concept we revealed in the middle of 2017. It looks like there’s a neat duck-tail spoiler on this new concept, too.

There’s no way the M8 will be less powerful than the 592bhp M5; the BMW marketing department would never allow it. A figure of just over 600bhp would give the car a healthy ability to terrify whoever’s in the rear seats as well as out-muscling the 577bhp Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe.

The M8 will, however, share much of the chassis and technology of the M5, because it will share the same basic platform. Expect four-wheel drive and maybe, just maybe, serious off-the-shelf drift hero status.
