This Speeding Bentley's Huge Crash Shows Unforgivable Stupidity
Brace for a serious brown trousers moment, because this horrific accident would be enough to turn any normal human into a poo cannon.
After pulling around a traffic-calming island in May 2014, 74-year-old Tim Edwards’ Ford was totally destroyed when a Bentley being driven at ridiculous speed through a village centre hit a kerb and bounced, still travelling at high speed, straight into him.
The terrifying footage has only recently come to light after all the legal proceedings were finalised. The black Continental GTC is said to have been travelling at up to 85mph along a narrow 20mph street on the outskirts of Amersham, a town in the English Chiltern Hills.
We don’t need to tell you how serious the impact was. Poor Mr Edwards was unharmed, but shocked (as you’d imagine), but the [insert expletive here] in the Bentley came off worse. The coward, 46-year-old Richard Plum, fled the scene but was traced by the blood his busted nose left on the airbag.
He was sentenced to 14 months in jail and banned from driving for four years and seven months. Even going by the date of the crash back in 2014, he’ll still be getting the bus by the time he next goes Christmas shopping.

I live not far from Amersham and I can tell you the drivers around here are total nutcases- it’s remarkable that some of them obtain licences. They drive far too fast (although not quite as fast as this) and never pay attention to the road or their indicators.
Some of them just look totally lost behind the wheel, or aren’t looking at all
Some of the worst driving that I’ve ever seen is in Amersham, mainly on Stanley hill, so I’m going to agree with you on that one. I don’t understand how people can drive the way they do in Amersham.

Let’s also keep in mind that he may have been trying to avoid something in the road previously going a little to fast but to avoid it he had to speed up and one rushed decision later, bOoM
Which obstacle on the road requires you to speed up to 85 in a 20 zone to avoid it ?
There’s no reason for him to be doing thrice the speed limit around a very blind , very narrow corner .
Should be charged with attempted murder. Driving like this just shows you’d accept the chance of killing someone O.o
Imagine it would have been a cyclist or a classic car…small chances to get out okay looking at the speed on impact :/

The 14 months is jail seems about right, but this deserves a lifetime driving ban. Driving is a privilege, and Mr. Plum clearly doesn’t deserve to have it.
