The BMW M5’s US pricing has been revealed, apparently showing how much of a good deal the country is getting.

Compared to £89,640 in the UK and €117,900 – a hefty £104,688 – in Germany, the US will land the newly four-wheel drive uber-saloon for a tidy $102,900 – equivalent to just £77,652.

That price also makes it a gnat’s kneecap cheaper in the States than the similarly bonkers Mercedes-AMG E63 S, which weighs in at $104,400.

The price was revealed by a Texan man on a Bimmerpost forum, who has placed an order using his military discount. The 10 per cent cut means his 592bhp car’s pre-options price is around $92,000 – £69,427 at today’s exchange rates.

He posted the order sheet for the car, detailing how the likes of metallic paint, Dynamic Damper Control, a heated steering wheel and a universal garage door-opener are all standard.

Special metallic colours are $1950, full Merino leather for the interior is $3500 and the First Edition package is $18,300. That comes with the M Sport exhaust, 20-inch M wheels, Apple CarPlay and a Bowers & Wilkins stereo system.

There are, of course, plenty of options to throw money at, if the mood takes you, like night vision with pedestrian detection, carbon ceramic brakes and Plum Brown Wood Trim. Wait… plums are brown?
