This Insane 740bhp Hybrid Racecar Concept Weighs Just 825kg... And It's A Peugeot
Peugeot seems to have taken a good handful of crazy pills this morning, announcing a pretty spectacular Vision Gran Turismo concept just days before the latest game in the franchise hits shops.
Gran Turismo Sport will already have a mean assortment of concept metal direct from the likes of Mercedes-AMG, Bugatti and McLaren. Peugeot has added its own dash of spice to the October 17 release with this: the L750 R Hybrid.
Based on last year’s L500 R Hybrid, it cuts another 175kg(!) out of the one-tonne car, making for a mere 825kg mass in a car that’s an extra 79bhp more powerful than the L500 R. Spoiler alert: it’s bananas fast.
A petrol engine that revs to 10,000rpm (yes, really) joins an electric motor for an output of 740bhp. We’d say that was, err, adequate in a machine that weighs less than a Volkswagen Up. The aero package looks like it’s something to be reckoned with, too.
Furnishing the concept are dual-circuit hydraulic disc brakes with carbon rotors, independent suspension at all corners that can vary the ride height according to speed, and forged magnesium-alloy wheels.
This is going to be a proper animal. PlayStation 4 owners will be looking forward to taking the wheel. As for pace, a top speed isn’t listed but 62mph is brought about in a pretty brain-shattering 2.4 seconds. We can’t wait to hear the noise it makes at full chat…
