Prepare Yourselves: Tesla's Semi Truck Will Be Here On 26 October

It’ll be about a month later than previously thought, but Tesla’s potentially game-changing all-electric truck is just a few weeks away from being revealed.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter that the ‘semi truck’ (that’s an articulated lorry, to us Brits) will be revealed on 26 October in Hawthorne, California - the home of Tesla and Space X. Along with the reveal, there’ll also be passenger test rides.

Elon Musk describes the vehicle as a “beast”, and says that it’s “unreal” - because of course he does. According to a report from Reuters last month, initial versions will have a more modest 200 - 300 mile range, but that will climb, to the point where the Tesla semi can compete with the 1000 mile ranges enjoyed by conventional diesel-powered lorries.

The truck is all part of Tesla’s ambitious expansion plans, that include fulfilling the hundreds of thousands of Model 3 orders, and later putting into production the Model Y compact crossover plus an as-yet unnamed pick-up truck.

I’d like to see a million km and 10 years out of these, otherwise it’s not going to be of much use to companies

Does this mean trucks will no longer block traffic?

What now i’m thinking:

Relax, everybody. The Navi-Tron Auto-Drive System is driving truck for me. But keep it a secret. It’s a big scam, okay?

Instead of one day shipping it’ll be 2 hour shipping

Seeing it’s all electric, it should have a car like acceleration, so less traffic jams. I would assume, since it’s Elon Musk, his R&D dept have sorted out safe and short braking distances for truck of that size and if they can do 500-700 miles(as opposed to normal +-300miles) a day, it should reduce shipping times. Well, lets see… And I’m with Musclecarlover7 (510 squad) (Furry squad) on this one.

Yeah, longevity of motors and batteries have to take some serious use. In one day, my friend does about 800 km in his truck, that’s what, 500 miles? It still had over half a tank, so about 1,000 mile range needed to be the same, quite a lot more if you’re interstate as that can be a few thousand. We’ll see how well they do, in theory it’ll be great (especially considering content torque), but I’ve got my doubts it’ll last in the real world

Knowing the weight of most of Tesla’s vehicles this semi should be around 20-40k lbs.

Also, this thing better have a fake grill or something because a lorry without a grille always looks awful.
