Silvia

The first of the two models to be introduced, starting in 1989. Only Sold in Japan it was available in three trim levels, representing the three top cards J(ack), Q(ueens) and K(ings). Additionally all models could be ordered as „club“ and „diamond“ variant, gaining access to several more options. A limited Edition was available, called A(lmighty), which is very rare.

Jack’s

N/A Base Model, All Jacks came with Steering wheel height adjust standard. Optional equipment: ABS and Alloy wheels. 91+ came with rear seat lap sash belt, side impact protection bars. New Optional: LSD.

Queen’s

N/A Mid Trim. All Queens came additional to the J’s with power windows and central locking. Optionals: Front fog lamps, projector headlights, rear spoiler, ABS and alloy wheels. 91+ came with a LSD. New Optionals: leather steering wheel and leather seats.

King’s

Turbo Top Trim. Same Options as Q’s only with the better engine. Distinguishable through the vents in the front bumper. 91+ changes: LSD was optional. Everything else is the same as Q’s.

Diamond’s Variant (88-91 Q and K)

All Diamond variants came with Dual Projector Headlights with foglights, a rear spoiler, aluminium wheels, automatic climate control, central locking, power windows, tilt wheel and CD Player. Optional: Front Spoiler, ABS, LSD (Qs), leather steering wheel, leather interior, moonroof and Hicas II. Pictured: Q’s with aftermarket wheels.

Club Variant (91-93 Q and K)

All Club variants came with Triple Projector Headlights with foglights, a rear spoiler, aluminium wheels, automatic climate control, central locking, power windows, side impact beams, rear 3-point seat belts and CD Player. Optional: Sunroof, ABS, LSD, leather steering wheel, leather interior and Super Hicas.

Almighty Variant (late 92-93, Q only)

All Almighty (or Ace) variants came with manual climate control, central locking, tilt wheel and power windows. Optional: Front spoiler, ABS, LSD, Triple Projector Headlights, rear spoiler and sunroof.

Autech

Autech built a licensed Silvia Convertible, which is also very rare due to the high MSRP at the time. Standard equipment was a 4 speed automatic transmission. LSD, power windows, central locking and steering wheel height adjust. No Optional equipment!

180SX

The second of the two models. Three Generations, also called Phase I, II and III. Better known as Zenki (the first), Chuki (the middle) and Kouki (the last).

Type I (89-90)

Base Model. All Type I had a LSD and steering wheel height adjust. Optional: Front fog lamps, ABS. 91-94 changes: rear window wiper, rear seat sash belt and side impact protection bars. Optionals: rear spoiler and ABS.

Type II (89-90)

Top trim. All Type II had additional to the Type I a rear window wiper, power windows, central locking and alloy wheels. Optionals: Front fog lamps, rear fog lamps, front spoiler, rear spoiler and ABS. 91-94 changes: Optionals: leather steering wheel and leather seats.

Type III (92-94)

Top trim introduced in 92. All Type III had additional to the Type II front and rear spoiler standard. Optionals: Front fog lamps, rear fog lamps, ABS, leather steering wheel and leather seats.

Type-R (94-95)

The Base Model of the line, only available in N/A. 95 Models recieved the S14 airbag steering wheel. All Type-R came with LSD, rear window wiper, ABS, rear seat lap sash belt, side impact protection bars, power windows and central locking. Optional: fog lamps, front spoiler, navigation system, leather steering wheels and alloy wheels. 96-99 changes: Turbo. Optionals: tinted windows (only in 97-99)

Type-X (94-95)

Top Trim Model of the line, only available in Turbo. 95 Models recieved the S14 airbag steering wheel. All Type-X came with LSD, rear spoiler, driver airbag, rear seat lap sash belt, side protection bars, power windows, central locking, steering wheel height adjust, leather steering wheel and alloy wheels Optional: fog lamps, front spoiler and navigation system. 96-99 changes: Aero Package. Optionals: tinted windows (only in 97-99)

Type-S (96-99)

N/A, but still comes with the aero package (No Aero Sideskirts). All Type-S came with rear spoiler, rear wiper, ABS, rear seat lap sash belt, side impact protection bars, power windows, central locking and alloy wheels. Optional: LSD, front foglights, chin spoiler, navigation system,leather steering wheel and tinted windows (only in 97-99)

Type-G (97-99)

Same as Type-S (96-99), only without rear spoiler.
All 96+ had digital odometer

Sileighty

An automotive shop in Japan called ‘Kids Heart’ built Silvia front ends on 180SX chassis (the parts are bolt on, same chassis → S13) due do togue drifters destroying their front ends. The Silvia front end was lighter and cheaper and thus many people decided to switch front ends. Kids Heart decided to build „official“ versions of it. 500 were built in 1998 and modifications were Turbo pressure and a better ECU.

Europe

All cars:
89-93 CA18DET

200SX

No real trim levels, only additional options from the dealer. Sadly no info at all on the Internet. Build in LHD and RHD (UK-Spec). Featured unique rear license plate holders (plastic) to fit the wide EU plates. Standard in Germany was: alloy wheels, heatable rear window, central locking, ABS, electrical foldable mirrors, steering wheel height adjust and power windows. Optionals were: 4 different tape players, 2 different CD players, equalizer, Borbet alloy rims, different brand alloy rims, roof rack, 4 or 3 spoke leather steering wheel, leather shift knob, mud flaps, 3 different floor mats, tow hitch(!!!) and A/C. Austrian 200SX’s had a headlight washer machine standard, which wasn’t offered in different countries. Swiss S13s had standard: electric mirrors, central locking, leather steering wheel and shift knob, 3 spoke steering wheel, heatable rear window, mudflaps and headlight washers. Optionals were A/C, CD player, ABS (on prefacelift models) and Borbet rims (Thank you Car Throttle user ‘HF_Martini6’ for the information). I didn’t find out anything about other country specs since the brochures haven’t been uploaded to the internet.

200SX-T

A rare low production number built by the swiss company Aerotechnik with upgraded aerodynamics and a Targa roof. Essentially they used new 200SX and rebuild them to their spec.

Wektor 200SX

Wektor was an unofficial tuner that build special vehicles of production cars. They took a 200SX and modified it to two stages, stage one with 215hp and stage 2 with 245hp. Only 6 months after release of the original 200SX in 89 Wektor began their shenigans. Stage 2 was supposted to propel the car from 0-60 in 6 seconds with a top speed of 246 km/h. Wektor also build custom Targa versions if the customer wanted it.

240SX
Entry level sports car. The uninformed often refers every single S13 as ‘240’ because of the huge following. Optional on every 240SX was: Front Hood mask/bra, Sony CD player, carpeted floor mats, splash guards, sunroof wind deflector, rear deck rack, car care products, rear spoiler, locking wheel lug nuts, A/C, Battery warmer, car cover, engine block heater, child seat, vehicle security system and contour armrests/cup holder. Two body styles were offered, both with pop up front ends. The hatchback/fastback which was essentially a normal RS13 and the coupe, which was a PS13 body with RS13 front end. Do not asociate with aftermarket front conversions! This is not a Onevia!
89-90

SE

Hatchback/Fastback model. There were no trim levels for the early years.

XE

Standard

Base model. Available for Hatchback/Fastback and Coupe.

SE

Upper Specced model. All SE had Alloy wheels, Rear Spoiler, Front air dam, Flip up Sunroof (Fastback), Leather steering wheel and gear knob (5 Speed Manual), Power front windows and power locks, electric mirrors, cruise control, digital Heads-Up-Display (Coupe), rear window wiper (fastback) and an upgraded Audio system. Optionable electric or slideable sunroof.

LE (91/92 and fastback only)

Luxury edition. Additional to SE model: Leather Seats, Driver-Seat Lumbar Support and A/C. Optional slideable sunroof.

Limited (91 only)

Like the name suggest, a Limited Edition. Sadly no Information on the Internet at all.

Convertible (92-94)

Nissan build a 240SX Convertible, only available with the 4 speed automatic transmission. Features were electric powered roof, vinyl boot, power front and rear windows, cruise control, alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. All Convertibles are Limited Editions!

Handling Package

yeah, there needs to be a affordable simple sports car again. Something that everybody can buy and drive sportly on the road, it would sell like hot cakes. Look at the BRZ for example, it sells well, but is just a bit too pricey in my eyes

Swiss S13: Only Options available were A/C and CD ayer instead of the Cassete deck and ABS on the Pre Facelift models, only the Borbet Wheels were available (or the Factory Alloys)

Standard equipement was:
Power Mirrors
Central Locking
Leather Steering Wheel and Shift Knob
3 Spoke Steering Wheel
Rear Window Heater
Mud Flaps (actually those were mandatory)
Headlight washer Jets
