New Paint And Recaro Seats For Special 115-Unit Cadillac CTS-V

We rather like the CTS-V, even though we can't get it in the UK. This special edition celebrates Cadillac's 115-year history with a production run numbering one for every year the company has been in business

The CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition might not have any more power than the standard car, but since it already has 640bhp we can forgive Cadillac its decision to upgrade only a few facets of an unusual car that always captures our interest.

Some 630lb ft of torque also bursts out of the 6.2-litre supercharged V8, which has cylinder deactivation to fool the authorities into thinking it’s somehow less unkind to the ice caps. That’s plenty of muscle to be going on with, so let’s deal with the changes.

Glacier Metallic paint contrasts with red Brembo brakes calipers and a range of carbonfibre trim add-ons. It gets Recaro bucket seats in black, a sunroof, a rear-view camera in the rear-view mirror, heating for the outer rear seats, tri-zone climate control and a US-standard 110-volt power outlet.

Just 115 will be made to celebrate Cadillac’s 115 years in business. Buyers will get an invitation to the company’s V-Performance Academy at Spring Mountain, which is a handy sweetener to set against the Glacier Metallic Edition’s mighty $103,885 price tag. It might be expensive, and we don’t even get it in the UK, but whenever we see this car we have an irrational want for one. This special edition isn’t helping.
