There’s a new, faster and more track-ready Zenos E10 incoming, as the rescued company makes its first steps under AC Cars control.

The lightweight E10, a rival for the likes of Caterham and Ariel to think about, will be given a host of new, upgraded parts to help remedy some of the package’s weak points – as reported back by existing customers.

That means better brakes, with more stopping power and more effective cooling to keep fade at bay for longer. There’s a new intercooler for the turbocharged 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost engine, and the new E10 will have an improved exhaust system to help liberate a few extra ponies.

There’s good reason to expect an improvement on the old car’s 250bhp, but prices will be going up, says Zenos’ new owners. We don’t know exactly what to, yet, but the previous £27,995 is likely to bump up past £30,000 in order to restore profitability to a brand that simply couldn’t make money. Production is shifting from Norfolk to South Africa, we understand – a cost-cutting tactic.

Autocar reports that the first 25 ‘new E10’ models will be sold in a special limited-edition trim, but there’s happy news for owners of the older car because all the upgrades are going to be made available to buy on the aftermarket, through Autokraft Performance.
