Here's The Next Generation Porsche 911 Making Throaty Noises During Winter Testing

Development of the 991's successor continues, with this partially disguised prototype spotted undergoing testing in northern Sweden

Good news, Porsche fans: we’re getting an early look at the next-generation, ‘992’ 911 thanks to fresh testing footage. Captured undergoing winter trials in northern Sweden, the prototype you see here is lightly disguised and looks to also be wearing a few 991.2 body panels. We can’t make too many predictions about the looks just yet, it’s fairly safe to assume the designers will have taken a typically Porsche evolution approach to the styling. What is definitely new though is the Mission E concept-inspired rear end, complete with one massive - and rather tasty - LED light bar. We like.

Here's The Next Generation Porsche 911 Making Throaty Noises During Winter Testing

The next-gen 911 is expected to be the first version of Stuttgart’s famous rear-engined sports car to feature the option of a hybrid powertrain, while the regular Carrera and Carrera S models will almost certainly be packing the twin-turbo flat-six which made its debut in the 991.2.

It should arrive late in 2018 for the 2019 model year.

How did it loose a set of exhaust pipes? Went from 4 to 2, then back to 4 ;)

Hard to believe the 991 has been out for six years

The taillight is more likely to be one out of a 991 4, they already have something similiar.

The market for a single piece full-width tail light has never been this strong, or sexy.

I’ll take you back to 1975 when Porsche made the 930 with that tail light and kept doing it ever since. Vw and Mercedes made some special edition cars with it in the late 1980s/early 90s. I think Toyota did it as well. What I’m saying is it’s not new, it’s just that now thanks to LED’s we can make them look very sexy

Kind of a retro look in the back if you think about the backs of older porsches.
