The New Matthew McConaughey Lincoln Advert Actually Makes Some Sort Of Vague Sense

Matthew McConaughey is back in another Lincoln advert, although this time it's a little less esoteric...

A couple of years ago, a series of Lincoln adverts hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons, due to some weirdly esoteric performances from Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey.

Each featured a brooding, pseudo-philosophical monologue with bizarre lines like “sometimes you gotta go back, to actually move forward,” thrown around with abandon, leading to a flood of parodies washing over the Internet.

Lincoln did experience a boost in sales following the campaign however, which is probably why the Ford subsidiary has brought McConaughey back into the fold for a new advert.

This time though, it actually makes some sort of sense. No esoteric ramblings, no weird finger movements, just a fairly obvious message. And some moodiness, obviously.

This is only the first one though, so there’s still time for some more parody-friendly efforts…
