Lincoln Sales Are Up 25 Per Cent Thanks To Matthew McConaughey And Jim Carrey

Following the launch of the Lincoln advert starring Matthew McConaughey and the subsequent parodies, the luxury car brand has seen a jump in sales

With Ford’s ailing luxury brand Lincoln desperately needing a boost, one of the solutions settled on by the company was to dump Matthew McConaughey behind the wheel of its new MKC crossover, and film a series of slightly weird adverts with the film star performing moody monologues. Naturally, all this semi-poetic nonense made the ads prime candidates for parody, with the likes of South Park and Saturday Night Live taking a stab.

The latter effort, fronted by Jim Carrey (above), has since clocked well over 7 million views on YouTube. What’s interesting, though, is all this attention led to a 25 per cent jump in sales for Lincoln last month, just the sort of life that needs to be breathed into the company right now. As the old adage goes, all publicity is good publicity…
