The Rather Special McLaren 570GT By MSO Concept Is Here

Take a 570GT, add a sprinkling of McLaren Special Operations engineers with nothing else to do and you get the most luxurious and technologically advanced Sports Series car yet

It used to be that a car capable of 204mph and of crushing the 0-62mph sprint in 3.4 seconds didn’t have to worry about luxury. It just had to scare the bejesus out of you and look good parked in front of your 12-bedroom villa.

But McLaren reckons there’s more to supercar life than that, which is why this concept adaptation of the 570GT wears fripperies like a bespoke ‘By McLaren’ interior (so who makes the regular ones, then…?) in Saddle Tan, a five-stage dimmable glass roof, a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins stereo and 370 litres of boot space. That’s more than a Ford Focus, as if you needed an extra reason to buy one.

The springs are 15 and 10 per cent softer at the front and rear, but you’ll still find Normal, Sport and Track options for the adaptive dampers.

Behind the rear seats there’s more cool stuff going on. The familiar 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 stays at 562bhp and 443lb ft, but the titanium exhaust borrows tech from the 675LT and chops 30% off the weight of the standard stainless steel setup. McLaren says it gives a “progressively richer and more characterful tone more immediately as the revs rise.” Probably sounds alright, then.

The heat shields around it, which are visible through the rear air ducts, are finished in gold-coloured titanium nitride, which changes colour through stunning blues and purples as the system heats and cools through its cycle. We likey.

We expect to see most of the new bits making their way onto the regular 570GT’s options list soon.
