Watch As A Charging Tesla Model S Is Consumed By Fire

A few days ago, images of the smouldering remains of a Tesla Model S emerged. This video footage shows the fire which consumed it

It’s a fairly nightmarish start to the year if you go back to your charging electric vehicle, only to find it engulfed in flames. Particularly if the vehicle in question is a pricey Tesla.

That’s exactly what happened to one unfortunate Model S owner in Brokelandsheia, Norway, with a catastrophic fire reducing the car to a smouldering shell and destroying part of the Supercharger it was hooked up to. This video footage of the fire has since emerged, and it makes for painful viewing.

Since this is an electric car, local firefighters had to use foam, rather than water, to extinguish the flames. And since the Model S uses a large quantity of batteries made from lithium - a rather flammable substance - the fire was difficult to extinguish.

One silver lining is that no one was injured in the blaze. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
