The Bugatti Centodieci Is A Chiron In An EB110-Like Frock

Bugatti has clothed the Chiron in EB110-inspired bodywork, while also raising power and dropping weight

Although the Veyron and more recent Chiron have it beaten in terms of raw numbers, there’s a madness to the old Bugatti EB110 which its indirect successors can’t match.

A dinky 3.5-litre V12 with four turbochargers, nearly 25 years before the Veyron did the quad-turbo thing? It’s impossible not to respect that. This isn’t lost on Bugatti itself - even though the company that built the EB110 was technically a different entity to the VW Group-backed beast of today, Molsheim has chosen to honour the oh-so 90s supercar.

The way it’s done so is proving rather divisive. Although the car - christened the Centodieci - has only just been officially revealed, it was leaked on Thursday. This gave the Internet plenty of time to voice its displeasure at the Centodieci and its quite busy styling. There’s quite a lot going on, isn’t there?

Not that this will stop Bugatti selling each and every one. It’s limited to just 10 units, for a start. And it’s not like the French brand hasn’t had any trouble shifting any of its recent, ludicrously expensive Chiron-based vehicles, like the €5 million Divo, or the one-off La Voiture Noire with its record-breaking €11 million (plus taxes) asking price. The Centodieci sits in between at €8 million.

Peel away those new body panels, and you’ll find - once again - a Chiron. That means the Centodieci is powered by an 8.0-litre W16, fed by four turbochargers. Power has risen, though, jumping from 1478bhp to 1577bhp, and the weight is down by 20kg.

0-62mph takes 2.4 seconds, while 124mph from rest is dealt with in 6.1 seconds. It takes just 13.1 seconds to crack 186mph, which is half a second brisker than the Chiron. The top speed is lower at an electronically-limited 236mph - the Chiron will hit 261mph.

At the back, there’s a new diffuser, plus a large new wing. The Downforce level is still low compared to some more track-focused supercars at 90kg (we don’t know what speed that’s generated at), but the Centodieci is still able to pull the same lateral G as the Divo.

What do you think of Bugatti’s latest hyper-exclusive product?
