We weren’t expecting to see the all-new Vauxhall Corsa for another few weeks. And yet, here it is from every angle in a set of reasonable quality press shots that definitely aren’t supposed to be on the Internet. Woops.

The car will be built on the same platform as the new Peugeot 208, but unlike its chunkily-styled cousin, the Corsa is quite a curvy little thing. It’s quite smart and grown-up looking, we think.

We don’t have any new information to go with the images - which show the fully electric, Opel-badged version of the car - but Vauxhall has previously revealed that it’ll have a segment-first application of adaptive beam LED headlights.

It’ll be 10 per cent lighter than the old one, equating to a weight drop of 108kg, with the lightest versions tipping the scales at just 980kg. That’s despite the Corsa gaining all sorts of new tech - along with the fancy headlights, the Corsa will gain a PSA-sourced infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.

Along with the electric version, there’ll be the usual array of petrol and diesel engines available. Should Peugeot make a hot GTI version of the 208, we can see Vauxhall borrowing the powerplant to make a new Corsa VXR or GSI. Cross your fingers.

Following an official reveal that’s expected to take place early next month, the Corsa will go into production at Opel’s manufacturing facility in Zaragoza, Spain. It should be on sale by Autumn 2019.

Sounds like it might actually be good. I wonder if they’ll still make the chav-spec “Limited Edition” version.

Another sement-first: it’s the first car the size of a Fiesta that doesn’t look like a minivan

It’s actually an Opel, not a vauxhall
(technically it’s a Peugeot/Citroen)

Yeah but me no like the engine options from PSA, i think those 3pot 1.2 units suck. And those are the only engines that this car is gonna receive, i’m sure.
