A Four-Door Mustang Is Coming And There’s A Snowball Fight In Hell

A four-door Mustang is on the way, or so car maker Ford has reportedly told its North American dealers.

The company is said to have revealed the nugget at a major dealer event earlier this month. If it’s true, the four-door car will be a lengthened ‘Mustang-inspired’ GT potentially based on the Explorer chassis, with a turbocharged V8 at the front. More was revealed, but is said to be protected by non-disclosure agreements.

Ford is targeting the Porsche Panamera and Audi A7, and evidently believes the Mustang brand is strong enough to match the badge appeal of the German giants.

Quite how a mainstream manufacturer will pull off a credible rival to cars from the expensive end of Porsche and Audi’s ranges, we’re not sure. It’s been tried many times without success.

I think that the only way a 4door mustang might work is in the form of a shooting brake/station wagon. What do you guys think?

They wanted to remove sedans from their lineup, and now Ford has changed their mind with this..

I’m actually not even mad!! Much easier on the insurance (in the U.S. since it would be a four door), you still have one of the most affordable V8s available (if you choose the GT that is), and lastly, IT’S A MUSTANG MAN!!!!!!

So Ford is ending production of all their hatchbacks and Sedans/saloons, and then decide to ruin the name of their most iconic car by turning it into a 4 door. I don’t understand Fords thinking here.

Idk how I feel about this. Ford has been dragging the Mustang through the mud lately via ecoboost, hybrid, and now a sedan. I have nothing against performance sedans. Its just that they’ve taken what the mustang was and completely changed it.
