Why The New Acura NSX Is Too Damn Sensible For Its Own Good

I’m sorry but I completely disagree. The entire point of the original NSX and new NSX is to push the envelope of Honda. It’s supposed to show the world what Honda/Acura can do. The NSX name means “New Sportscar eXperimental”, so it wouldn’t make any sense for the new NSX to be the old NSX with minor tweaks here and there (as much as we’d love for that to happen). The original NSX was packed with plenty of technology when it first came out, and it too got flack for not having as much soul and being a bit of a dull drive, but it was also a supercar you could drive everyday. And guess what? The new NSX got the same kind of responses too.

Maybe because they gave the American to develop a Japanese car? That’s why it feels like a good car, but not as pure like an American sports car or Japanese sports car would. Just speculating.

Kind of like the Toyota FT1? yet everyone is leaking bodily fluids over that car

I think we all knew it would not have the same rawness as the old one but that pretty much applies to all new cars nowadays, i think we are still lucky that Honda even decided to create the new gen NSX in the first place.

They couldve named it something entirely new and people would have never compared it to the old NSX.

All modern cars are gigantic compared to their old counterparts.
Safety.

Yeah but the new NSX isn’t what the Ford GT was to the GT40, more what the 2016 Ford GT is to GT40. They’ve missed the point of the new NSX. Both the old and the new NSX were and are (and I hate to use the phrase) “pushing the envelope”, hence the X standing for eXperimental. The new NSX is a successor to what the original represented, not what it was physically.

why is everybody ramming on how its not like the old NSX? it’s not mandatory that you compare. it’s ruining the reputation of a fine car.

Exactly

Because people want new cars to be like the original, stuck in the past, I guess they are unhappy with the GTR not being like its predecessors, oh wait no they arent, wheres the arguments about it not having a skyline name

So basically the reviews for the new one are exactly the same as the ones for the old one when it was released. I remember Clarkson ranting about how tame it was and that it didn’t scare him so he didn’t like that about it. The rest I think is just plain nostalgia. Saying the old one is better because it didn’t have computers is just wrong. The old NSX was just as packed with the cutting edge technology of its day as is the new one, You want an example? Roll back the clock 25 years, that would be 1965. Sure enough, the NSX is packed with computers compared to Mustang. I miss the cars of old, but the rest is just nostalgia goggles.
