Trident Motorsports 2011-14 Mustang V6 Axle-Back Review

One thing we all love as car enthusiasts is the beautiful sound of engines, let them range from smaller 4-cylinders to roaring V12’s. As such, I decided to upgrade my 2013 Mustang V6 by getting a set of axle-back mufflers from a company by the name of Trident Motorsports.

Trident Motorsports is a relatively new company that started producing axle-back mufflers for the 2011-14 Mustang V6 back in early 2015. As like most, many were very curious and cautious of the new mufflers due to the unknown build quality and the fact the price of the set was one of the lowest on the market. After searching the forums I decided from the word of fellow V6 owners to pick up the mufflers. I purchased these on sale for $349.99 USD + free shipping, they arrived in an amazing two days. After installing them with a group of friends I was ready to test them out and to see if they would be as raspy as the Roush mufflers which start in the mid to high $400 range.

As you can tell from the video they produce an amazing sound as I play with the throttle. When you get on them while heading down the road you get a beautiful screaming V6 note that has a very refined sound that has no rasp that many other mufflers tend to produce on the 3.7 engine. Their is a slight drone which is only noticeable when the foot is on the floor. They come with removable tips which allow for a quick polish when heading to car meets as well for an added plus.

The build quality is quite durable and the welds were quite clean all around for the price paid on this set. The install went quite well after some minor blockades arose such as unable to use ramps/jacks so room was quite slim when reaching some of the bolts for the hangers as that was the route we took.

Compared to the stock mufflers this set weighed much lighter, coming into the 10 Lbs range as the stock mufflers ran 20+ Lbs range, so not only do I get some nifty mufflers that sound amazing, but I shed some weight too!

In the end I am very pleased with the purchase of these and I cannot wait to get even more parts in for my mustang Eleanor!

What a beauty! How is the throttle response for you? Can’t get used to drive by wire lag.
