If you love Porsches and want to go extraordinarily fast in a straight line and around corners, your 911 has just arrived. Oh yes, it’s the 991 generation’s GT3 RS, and it promises to be utterly stonking. As we’ve been expecting, it features a new 4.0-litre flat-six, kicking out 494bhp and 354lb ft of torque to the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox.

This makes it rather brisk. 0-62mph? 3.2 seconds. Top speed? 198mph. Want another stat? It’ll do 0-124mph in just 10.9sec.

Delve a little deeper into the technical details, and you realise just how serious this car is. The roof is made from magnesium while the bonnet and boot lid are made from carbonfibre to keep the weight down and the centre of gravity low.

The track is 36mm wider than the regular GT3 RS, and it’s sporting 20-inch wheels at the front, and 21-inch at the rear. And yes, there is a rear wing which looks like it’s been pinched from a 911 GT3 Cup racer.

Further evidence that this is intended as a monstrous track machine can be found on the inside. There’s a pair of carbonfibre bucket seats with six-point harnesses, a half roll cage, and an actual speed limiter. You know, for pit lanes and such.

So, how much for a hardcore Porsche that’ll lap the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 20 seconds? Reports suggest €181,690, about €50,000 more than a regular GT3.

It’ll be on display this week at the Geneva motor show.
