The Lamborghini Aventador SV Is 740bhp Of Lightweight Raging Bull

If you thought Lamborghini had gone mainstream when it released the Huracan, this should prove its mad streak is still at the forefront. The catchily-titled Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce has gained a bunch of imposing aero and some extra horsepower under its snout, as well as shedding unnecessary bulk.

The naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 remains, but here it gets a 50bhp jump to 740bhp, with 507lb ft of torque providing gut-wrenching acceleration. The extra horses - sorry, bulls - come thanks to a freer-flowing exhaust and improved valve timing. The ‘4’ in the name refers to the Haldex all-wheel drive system, through which that extra power is slammed into the ground.

The SV tips the scales at 50kg lighter than the standard car (now 1524kgs), but rather than spending hours in the gym and living off tasteless milkshakes, the Lambo has had a carbonfibre makeover, while its interior has been pared back to expose the carbonfibre monocoque chassis - no carpets or sound deadening here, thank you very much. Even the infotainment system is optional.

So what does all this mean? Specifically, 0-62mph in a ballistic 2.8sec, 0-125mph in 8.6sec, and a top speed of 217mph. All that carbonfibre aero addendum ensures you don’t take off at high speed, largely thanks to that huge adjustable rear wing and in-yer-face front splitter, which contribute to an overall improvement of 170 per cent more downforce than your average Aventador.

More power catapulting less weight is a captivating cocktail, and when it looks as good as this I think it’s fairly safe to assume Lamborghini is staying true to its bat guano crazy roots. This is the kind of car that kids will gladly plaster across their bedroom walls. Top work, Lambo.
