Imagine you’re a popular company which predominantly produces toy cars, and you’ve just teamed up with the Star Wars brand to make a range of vehicles and play sets. How do you best celebrate such a union? By building a life-sized car inspired by Darth Vader’s face, obviously. This is precisely the approach that Hot Wheels has taken to mark such an occasion, and its efforts will be showcased at San Diego Comic-Con today.
You’d be forgiven for thinking this is just a big model, but it’s not. It’s actually fully functioning, and is powered by a 519bhp LS3 V8. If you like the look of the ‘Darthcar’ and are going to Comic-Con, you can grab yourself a limited edition 1:64 scale model for $40 (£23) which comes housed in the middle of a replica Darth Vader lightsaber. This is quite possibly the coolest thing we’ve seen all month.
