Alfa Romeo Sales Were Up 843% In The USA Last Month

Before you ask: no, that is not a typo in the headline. Yes, Alfa Romeo sales in the USA really did jump a staggering 843 per cent in February compared to the same month last year, and the FCA-owned brand has already sold more units this year so far that in did in all of 2016.

Those are staggering figures, but there’s a good reason why Alfa managed to achieve them: the Giulia is now on sale. This time last year, the only car the brand sold in the USA was the carbon tubbed 4C sports car, of which it sold just 47 in February 2016. Fast forward February 2017, and Alfa manged to flog 412 Giulias, and 31 4Cs.

Fairly modest figures when you consider FCA’s biggest seller - the Dodge Ram - sold over 39,000 units, but still a massive increase on last year. And just think: all this comes before the debut of the Stelvio. Once the Giulia-derived SUV arrives, we should be seeing an even bigger percentage increase than that.

Meanwhile Maserati enjoyed an impressive 49 per cent increase in sales in February - thanks largely to the Levante - while FCA sales as a whole dropped 10 per cent.

Holy crap. Alfa Romeo, keep pulling out good cars from the bag, and you will be here for a long time.

I know it.

As much as i love Alfa Romeo’s comeback, 412 is still a measly figure for a mass produced car

It’s not hard to get 800% when the initial number is literally 47 cars… But still it’s very cool that a brand like this is finally doing something well

Is it any coincidence that Alfa Romeo heavily sponsored and had a long commercial in the Super Bowl which was about a month ago?

No, they meant to heavily advertise in the Superbowl. That’s how they get known again. They need to reassert themselves in the American market
