2012 Nissan GT-R Track Pack

It may be designed to ace the race tracks but Nissan say the 'Track Pack' edition can be used on the road just like the usual GT-R. So if you want one you don't have to worry about escorting it to its territory on a tow truck.

To make sure your friends and enemies know you've got the track focused car this edition comes with unique six-spoke RAYS alloys with gloss black centres and a special 'Track Pack' emblem on the centre console.

Now to answer the question 'How can the GT-R possibly get better for the track?' Firstly, the spring rates have been revised so that they are optimal for track use. The Track Pack retains the adjustable dampers from the standard car though so you can soften the ride for a reasonably comfy journey home.

Secondly, the Track Pack GT-R has additional cooling ducts on the front bumper which help reduce the temperature of the brakes by as much as 100 degrees during track use meaning better stopping performance. There are similar ducts to cool the rear brakes as well and they're hidden behind the rear wheels.

The interior promises that you will be glued to your seat while thrashing around the track as the front Recaros are trimmed with blue bolsters and an innovative high grip material. You'll have to sacrifice the rear seats with the Track Pack but it means the car's weight overall will be lighter. In my mind, this is a big help for speed freaks since the Track pack has the same revised 3.8L twin-turbo V6 as the 'weakling's' GT-R producing 543hp and a claimed 0-60 time of  just 2.7 seconds.

Prices have also been announced this month. The standard GT-R will cost £74,450 and you can add the Track Pack for £10k. Both cars are now available to order and deliveries start in March 2012.
