Last year, Edd China made the shock announcement that he was to leave Wheeler Dealers after 13 years of on-screen spannering, fearing the show’s new produces would dumb the show down.

Since then, Ant Anstead of For the Love of Cars fame has replaced Edd, who’s gone on to create is own YouTube show called Edd China’s Garage Revival. The first episode went live today, and can be seen above.

It shows Edd helping out a Mk1 VW Golf GTI owner in Trogstad, Norway (where hot dogs are served in waffles, apparently - an idea we’re totally on board with), whose project has stalled. And that’ll be the simple setup of the show going forward - Edd will travel the world helping people finish off builds that have gone awry.

It’s a straightforward show packed with loads of mechanical detail, plus a welcome dash of feelgood factor. Consider us subscribed…

I’ve watched Wheeler Dealers for a long time now and I’ve always stayed to watch the bits where China does the work fixing up the wreck Mike brought and even give some “top tips” along the way.

I’m very glad to see that this show maintains that same spirit while doing away with the buying/selling bit. Hope this grows and becomes a new regular.

On a side note, the very first episode of Wheeler Dealers that I’ve watched? The Mk1 Golf GTI shown below. This episode feels A LOT like homecoming.

I expected more technical details. Restoring a whole car in 40 mintues is to much. In my opinion there were more technical details in the old wheeler dealer. Bit surprised…
