Tired of waiting for your McLaren BP23 to arrive? Wish you had some sort of extremely limited-edition BP23-themed paperweight to help pass those agonising days, weeks and months? Well, we have some good news, because each of the car’s 106 buyers is about to take delivery of a little keepsake.

The McLaren BP23 ‘Speed Form’ sculpture has been produced exclusively for those owners, giving the tiniest preview of the car’s bodywork styling – as well as a glimpse into the three-seat interior inspired by the wonderful F1.

At 400mm long, 205mm wide and 80mm tall, each individually-numbered piece has been machined using five-axis CNC cutting tech from a block of a metal alloy before being hand-polished for 30 hours. Each was then assembled by hand with its finishing trim inserts. Overall, every single one took 100 hours to create.

Project BP23 will be the fastest McLaren ever built, when it arrives, with a top speed of “more than 243mph.” Its name won’t follow the usual McLaren alphanumeric style, though. We understand it’s likely to be something more evocative.

To help the petrol-electric hybrid on its way to that incredible top speed, its bodywork will be the most aerodynamic Woking has ever produced. Exclusivity is guaranteed, too: the 106-car production run mirrors that of the famous F1 to which it’s partly the spiritual successor.
