We're So On Board With The Idea Of A Toyota Auris GRMN

The new Auris is a surprisingly interesting car to look at, so how might a hot 'GRMN' version shape up?

The Toyota Auris was quite a surprise at the Geneva Motor Show, primarily because it’s actually quite interesting to look at. The old one was an unforgivably dull affair which represented all that was wrong with the overtly conservative approach Toyota employed in recent years, but now, the Japanese has its mojo back.

Cool halo cars are back on the agenda thanks to the likes of the Yaris GRMN and incoming Supra, and we have bold styling to enjoy even on the ordinary stuff like the C-HR crossover. And that leads us to the new Auris, revealed at the Geneva Motor Show this week. It’s a looker, no? It’s even available with a reasonably potent 177bhp 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain. But what if Toyota cranked up the power a little further?

It’s not something we’re expecting, but there’s no harm in dreaming about a hot Auris GRMN. And once again, the facilitator of our dreams is X-Tomi Design, who’s cooked up this render using an official press shot of the new C-segment hatchback.

What’s interesting is the bodywork has been mostly left alone. We have a boot spoiler, new side skirts and bumper intakes, but not a lot else - the front end is already quite aggressive, and just needs a change in colour scheme to bring out the inner rage that’s lurking in the standard car.

What do you think of this creation?
