Fill Your Ears With The Throaty V8 Roar Of The New BMW 8-Series
Ladies and gents, prepare yourselves for the throaty noise that is the song of the all-new BMW 8-series. Well, just about - sadly it’s damn near drowned out in places by some excessively bombastic music in this footage of the car testing in Aprilia, Italy, but there’s enough proof here that the V8 version of the 8er is going to sound damn good. And to think, this isn’t even the M8.
Along with the video, BMW has also released a series of photos of the test mule. Even wearing camouflage, it cuts quite a striking figure, doesn’t it?
Underneath, it’ll be much the same as the current 7-series. So, that means on the engine front we can expect six-cylinder petrol and diesel models - badged 840i and 830d, respectively - and a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8-powered 850i with 444bhp.
The M8 is expected to use the same 592bhp powertrain as the new M5, and hopefully a V12-powered version should be somewhere in the mix at some stage.
Looking forward to full reveal? That should be in the next few months, potentially during March’s Geneva Motor Show.
