Seat Is Cooking Up A 335bhp Leon ST Cupra R

There may only be 24 Leon Cupra Rs coming to the UK, but if you miss out on one of those, don’t panic. Seat has another Cupra development up its sleeve, and it concerns the ‘ST’ estate version of the Leon.

Auto Express reports that Seat sales and marketing chief Wayne Griffiths is currently driving around in a prototype Leon Cupra ST that’s running 335bhp. It has an ABT exhaust, 20-inch wheels plus - like the incoming Cupra R - a load of copper accents, and Seat engineers are said to be “looking to roll them [the modifications] out to customers in due course.”

The more potent guise would be available only for the four-wheel drive, DSG-equipped Leon ST, since it doesn’t need any additional changes to cope with the extra poke. We prefer the front-wheel drive Cupra, but we’re certainly up for trying a faster, louder version of of the Cupra ‘4Drive’.

It should be here at some point next year.

because it is not the thorsen all-wheel- drive. It’s the useless HALDEX electronic one which adds weight and it is really slow
