Remember that huge multi-car pile-up at the Nurburgring a couple of weeks ago? Helmet-cam footage has emerged, and it ain’t purdy.

As the camera car approaches the Hatzenbach Chicane we see a huge cloud of smoke ahead. The driver slows down and pulls to the verge, hops out over the Armco and tries to warn other drivers, but many just blindly keep hammering onwards until it’s too late. Cue agonised tyre-screeching and much shunting.

The track-prepped BMW we were riding in gets punted, too, as a fast-moving Porsche 911 loses it completely and smashes first into another car, then the barriers, then another car and then into the back of the parked 6 Series. Either the German-speaking owner doesn’t notice or stays incredibly calm about it. We’d at least have muttered a pained scheisse.

The footage is a reminder to all of us, on all track days or Nurburgring tourist laps, to leave plenty of margin for error. Expect the worst around every corner and both you and your wheels will probably make it out undamaged.

Lets all hope that silver audi didnt have anyone in the passenger seat….
The camera dude just left his car and tried to warn others, there isnt much else to do but, as far as i can see he is the only one..

Plus, downvote all you want but Nurburgring track is being run by idiots.. where are the yellow flags? The warning lights that a crush happened?
People paying to get it there are supporting idiots.

Can we get a moment of silence for the owner of the BMW. The owner went trough the process of swapping a 1UZ v8 engine in it, and has been using is responsible as his track car ever since. No crazy money build or anything, just having fun on a budget. It’s a shame that by him doing the absolute right thing, his car got destroyed. The car is gone, but some of the parts are okay. And in true car guy fasion, he’s bought another BMW (E36) into which he will swap the exact same 1UZ. Aplause for that man! (Who is actually a dutch guy and fellow forum member)
