Close-Up Look At The Tesla Model 3 Reveals Good And Bad Points
With just 220 delivered thus far, you don’t have a particularly good chance of seeing a Model 3 up close right now. Thankfully, OCDetailing has posted a couple of videos that give a thorough look at the car’s hidden features both inside and out.
There are some cool touches, like a ‘hidden’ glovebox, the same valet mode feature that locks the frunk as seen in the Model S and X, and a neatly concealed charging flap. However, there’s not a whole lot in the way of ‘surprise and delight’ going on (don’t forget, at present you can’t even option a whole lot on these cars), and some elements of the design could prove downright irritating.
Having to use the centrally-mounted touchscreen to adjust the steering wheel for example could be a massive faff if the car’s used by more than one person. And as a reminder, that screen is the car’s only display - there’s no instrument binnacle behind the steering wheel for speed readout and so on at all.
There’s also no wireless charging pad, an item that’s already filtering down to small hatchbacks these days. But hey, there’s a light-up interior frunk release, just in case anyone really small gets stuck in there…
