Ken Block's Awesome 1400bhp Hoonicorn Assault On Pikes Peak Is (Almost) Here At Last
Brace for hooning: It’s Ken Block and the twin-turbo Hoonicorn versus Pikes Peak, and things are about to get very, very smoky.
After Block’s team turned the 845bhp Hoonicorn into this insane, 1400bhp methanol-fuelled v2.0 model, the plan was always to film some absolutely awesome content with it, and where better to do it than Pikes Peak? Block has just uploaded a teaser trailer for what looks like an absolute baptism of ‘Climbkhana’ fire for the ridiculous Hoonicorn.
You might remember that this first surfaced about a year ago, but for some reason it has taken, like, forever to nail the edit. Next week looks like the time that we’ll finally see the fruits of the team’s labours on the mad-looking car.
Its two turbos, which only stick out through the bonnet of the 1965 Mustang shell because Block wanted them to, cram 21lb of boost into the 6.7-litre Roush V8’s cylinders. That makes the conversion somewhat dramatic. Toyo, one of the American’s sponsors, must have had to pack a whole truck full of spare tyres for this shoot. We can’t wait for the full thing.
