Watch The Audi TT RS Give A Nissan GT-R A Serious Run For Its Money

The Nissan GT-R should be able to demolish a TT RS in a drag race, but that's not how this straight-line battle from Top Gear plays out...

It’s a tried and tested formula: want to prove a particular car is quick? Race it against a Nissan GT-R, and post the results on YouTube.

However, an Audi TT RS shouldn’t stand a chance against an R35 in a straight-line battle, should it? That’s what we thought, but it in this drag race from Top Gear, the pint-sized Audi initially gets the jump on the Nissan, and isn’t reeled in until much further down the runway.

The 3.26sec 0-60mph time clocked by the Nissan strikes us as a below-par performance for the V6-powered beast - for whatever reason, it just doesn’t look to have hooked up so well at the start. We don’t want to take anything away from the Audi’s mighty performance, though, and even with the GT-R more on-form, the little RS still wouldn’t have been far behind.

How much fuel did they put in both cars? I mean did the gtr really became that slow? It used to glue driver to the seat at the start and beat anything up to 60 mph (2.8s and so on)

Well, what’s more impressive is that such an old platform can be used for so long and still be relatively competitive. This gen of GTR has been out the longest in all of GTR history, it desperately needs a fresh successor

True… But have you seen the Nissan lineup since the r35 exists?

They will axe this and the 370z in 2 or 3 years and boom… You have mitsubishi.

Sad as hell, but besides those two they don’t make any good cars.

God i miss the 90’s lineup…

I don’t get why people feel like “justice was served” after a new car beats a GTR in a drag race. The car is 10 years old, and just now we started seeing cars actually being faster. There is no reason to brag about it. Its like saying “My $200 Samsung phone is faster than an iPhone 3G from 10 years ago”. Big deal!

But I do know why people do it, its just a responce to all that UNJUSTIFIED hype the GTR gets. But you guys are no better. Hating or loving, if you have no justified/real reasons to…you’re as toxic as those who do the opposite.

the tt wasnt actually that much faster out of the hole than the gtr, and I think that would be proven with 60ft times from each car I think this near ass-whooping was accomplished because the gtr’s driver had a slower reaction time, from what I can see the TT driver just straight up tree’d the f**k out of that guy. Either way the car thats barely changed since 2008, just drove around his ass like it was tied to a stump.

3.26 .. oh dear … measuring hundreds in an application that is merely repeatable in 2/10 accuracy.
