Let us get one thing out of the way so we can concentrate on the good news: this fast-looking GT86 has no extra power or performance, unless it comes from slick tyres.

Other than a little extra stability at the rear courtesy of a race-spec wing, this American ‘86 Cup’ racer is no more capable in a straight line than the street-ready car. But look at that livery. This is a damn fine-looking race car. The red and white graphics look like they’re straight out of a 2000s video game. I’m sure I used to dress my cars pretty much just like this in Need For Speed: Underground.

It’s set to make an appearance at a single round of the Pirelli World Challenge; the two races at Utah’s Motorsports Campus next weekend. We only have one picture of it, sadly, but it’s a looker. As fans of the 86 just as it is (and when it gets power boosts) we might be a little bit in love.
