Even The Slowest Versions Of The Tesla Model S Are Now Seriously Fast
The Tesla Model S could never be considered a slow car, but the base models have always had slightly less appeal than the P100D because, well, they don’t have the ‘Ludicrous’ mode and a 2.3 second 0-60mph figure. That’s as fast as a LaFerrari, to give some context.
But now, the entry-level versions are a whole lot more interesting. Tesla has slashed the 0-60 time of the 75 model by a huge 1.2sec, making it a tenth of a second quicker than the original 85D, getting it to 60mph in just 4.3 seconds. That’s the same as the original Audi R8, and the limited-edition Aston Martin Vantage GT8.
The faster 75D model has also received a one second upgrade, now hitting 60mph in 4.2 seconds. These dramatic improvements have come from software changes, improved batteries and upgraded hardware.
The Model X SUV hasn’t been left out, and now has some truly impressive figures - not that any of the models were slow previously. There’s a drop of over a second for the 75D, down to 4.9 seconds, and the P100D loses half a second to get it down to 4.7 seconds.
