Faraday Future's Prototype FF91 Has Beaten The Tesla Model S's Pikes Peak Time By 23 Seconds

Faraday Future may be struggling behind the scenes, but we have to admit to raising an eyebrow at a Pikes Peak course time that easily betters that of the old Tesla Model S P90D

Don’t think we’re pretending anything we’re not: the Faraday Future FF91 hasn’t broken any records and it hasn’t really even laid down an especially fast time. But it has still sent a prototype car up Pikes Peak, and it was some 23 seconds faster than a stripped-out Tesla Model S P90D…

With British GT Championship driver Robin Shute at the wheel, the FF91, clearly minus any sort of production interior, set a time of 11m25s. To win the event you need a time well below nine minutes, but this is still relatively eye-opening. It’d be interesting to see a newer Model S P100D make the attempt.

For a company that has had as many problems as Faraday Future, it’s actually pretty impressive that they got the thing to the top of the hill at all, but doing it at a pace that would easily be good enough to secure the track’s electric production car record is promising.

The outright course record, in its current layout, belongs to Sebastien Loeb, who smashed it in 8m13.9s at the wheel of a custom-prepared Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak monster. The fastest modified electric car last year set a class record of 8m57.1s.

is there a reason the dashboard is out? seems like they’re trying to save weight and this wouldn’t be production

Okay so was that guy’s alarm going off the whole time he was driving??? Dude that would’ve bugged the hell outta me. How am I supposed to smash apexes and lap times with that in my ear? Didn’t car throttle just do a video a while back on driving fast and how loud music slows reaction times??? HOW ABOUT A LOUD ANNOYING ALARM?
