Seat Wants Your Suggestions For What To Call Its First Large SUV

After revealing its Ateca small SUV last year, Seat's follow-up act is a large SUV similar to the Skoda Kodiaq, but what's interesting - and potentially hilarious - is that Seat actually wants the public to choose its name
Seat Wants Your Suggestions For What To Call Its First Large SUV

Are you the sort of person who reels in horror every time a new car name is announced? If so there’s good news, because Seat is asking for public suggestions for the name of its first large SUV.

Blame the Nissan Qashqai for starting the silly season for model names back in 2007, and since then we’ve had all sorts of fun and games with spelling and pronunciation, courtesy of the likes of the Renault Kadjar, the Kia Pro_cee’d and the new Skoda Karoq, which makes you sound like you’re speaking Klingon.

Seat Wants Your Suggestions For What To Call Its First Large SUV

Seat’s own Ateca small SUV is relatively inoffensive in the name department, by comparison, and presumably the Spanish firm is looking for something similar. The one proviso is that it has to come from Spanish geography. Suggestions for names are being invited on Twitter using the hashtag #SEATseekingName (caps optional).

After a while and a bit of market research, Seat will respond with a shortlist of three potential names for the car, which will share most of its greasy bits with the Skoda Kodiaq (Skodiaq?). Then the good people of social media will get to vote for their favourite. The winner will be announced in October.

Among our favourites so far are Pantalones (trousers), Malcocinado (undercooked) and Llabia (err, well, yes).

Get suggesting, and play nice(ish). There’s one small note we need to make, though. The first person to offer SEATy McSEATface is in line for a permanent ban.*

*Not really.

INB4 people exploit the suggestion and make Darude Sandstorm the most popular choice. XD

How about some adverbs like:
espacioso - roomy
versátil - versatile

Or since SUVs tend to be butchy and masculine, how about Spanish masculine names:

Santiago.
Sebastián.
Matías.
Mateo.
Nicolás.
Alejandro.
Diego.
Samuel.

“What car you got?”
“Seat In-it”
It would just sound like you’re a roadman, telling people what car you have.
