If you took a look at this horrifying aftermath footage of an accident in Cloverdale, California without any context, you’d probably be convinced there was at least one fatality. But no.

In fact, the driver of the Chevrolet Impala you see sliced in two - 26-year-old Apol Lansang - only suffered minor injuries after a Toyota Sequoia driven by 27-year-old Kevin Fenty crossed onto her side of highway and hit her car head on.

The passenger side of the Chevrolet bore the brunt of the crash, tearing off and ending up half way up a grass verge. Had anyone else been in the Impala, this story might not have had such a favourable outcome.

Fenty meanwhile was thrown clear of his Toyota during the crash, suffering more moderate injuries. A local news report states that “drugs are believed to be a factor”.

Well I guess that’s only “half” of their worries.

She could probably drive the impala home. It is front wheel drive and most of the damage appears to be at the back- or the lack of it.

Glad they both survived. As for the cars, to the junkyard you go.

As someone who’s been in a lot of crashes I can relate to this. I had a head on crash with my f150 against a miss and hard body and that’s a real hard body, my truck was render useless while the Nissan had some minor cosmetic repairs done

the way that impala split leads me to believe it was either A: built improperly, or B: poorly put back together after a previous accident
