A new Need for Speed game is in development and will arrive by the end of the year, EA and Ghost Games officially announced in a blog post.

They’re keeping information on the up-coming release close to their chests, but have revealed a few details on the new game before we hear more at EA Play in June.

Of course, the last game in the NFS series was the reboot back in 2015. Both EA and Ghost Games are building on that foundation and have taken into account the fan feedback from it too.

The biggest detail to come from the announcement is the fact that offline mode will return – the constantly-online element of the previous game was a major drawback. Now, there’ll be the option for gamers to play offline and single-player, with the ability to pause the action and not have to put up with being constantly online.

Ghost also emphasised that customisation will “play as strong a role as ever” in the new NFS, while police chases will be a feature too.

The announcement also said players will have the freedom to drive around an open world with “the space in which to do the things you want”, and also hinted at off-road driving.

So, we’ll have a new Need for Speed game this year and we’ll get more information next month. Are you excited? Let us know in the comments!

Not hyped for this untill I see a gameplay and all features this game will have to offer. NFS 2015 was a huge disappointment for me.

No keep it dark af!!!!
Need for speed is underground af and the darkness gives out the best feeling of that.
I haven’t had so much fun with a need for speed game since most wanted in 2005.
2015 was really the comeback for NFS that showed a new start on where they left after carbon.
Could have been better but this showed promise.

Can’t wait to see more of the new NFS :D

Will it be a Most Wanted remake? One that is actually based off the 2005 one?

Hopefully this one is actually good. The driving mechanics made it pretty much unplayable, drifting was an absolute nightmare. It could be done well enough to win, but not enough to enjoy. And they claimed that customisation would be “virtually limitless” with “anything you can do to a real car can be done in this game”
Heck, even GTA online has more in depth customisation haha
In the beginning you couldn’t even get aftermarket tail lights for an 86. WHO HAS EVER EVEN SEEN STANDARD TAILS ON A CUSTOM 86?! Haha
Now you can choose 1 set. Only 1. And that’s one of the good cars. Most you can only change the wheels and ride hide.
I’ve bought No Mans Sky. Yet still NFS was the biggest gaming disappointment of my life haha

It was quite interesting seeing the same style of bumper on many different cars in NFSU and NFSU2

I’ve been let down too many times by this series to care anymore. Statistically speaking its gonna be crap.
