Someone's Built A Stupidly Fast Electric Lotus Evora
A few months ago, we were blown away by an amazing build that involved an amateur racing driver creating a home-brewed electric Lotus. It’s now driveable, and as seen in the video above, it’s a bit of a monster.
Using an Evora coupe as a base, Sasha Anis has been busy installing batteries from a pair of Chevrolet Volts and the motor from a crashed Tesla Model S. The project has been extensively covered by YouTube channel Speed Academy, and it was filmed a few weeks ago hitting 450whp on the dyno.
The car reminds us of the old Tesla Roadster - which was based on a Lotus Elise - although that particular electric sports car never had anything like this kind of power to play with.
Anis’ car still isn’t finished - it doesn’t have power steering yet, for instance - but it’s already hugely impressive. It’s also pretty cool to take a sneaky peek at the electric drivetrain while it’s working. Kudos to whoever thought to mount a GoPro there!

Honestly I’ve got to say that the Evora seems like the perfect platform for an electric conversion
And then, somewhere out there, there is a bunch of confused Chevy mechanics scratching their heads above a Bolt with a 3.5 supercharged Toyota V6 which was brought in for a service

Dont worry petrolheads because somewhere out there in the distance of space is a planet where humanoids are converting electric cars to petrol in fear of the next ice age

What the hell is wrong with you people ? “burn it” ,”yawn another EV”, “wow a tesla roadster” ,can you just take a moment to appreciate the craftmanship and the sheer knowlegde that came in to make this car a reality. This isnt another wrapped gtr with big wheels, its a big leep in individual technology/programmng since they made the motor to work in a non-tesla car with non-tesla battreries, and sasha is a genius for that matter-even if he didnt do everything-,huge admire for him. I was kinda expecting this from the facebook page, but not in here too. Jesus.
Yeah, and also the M5 V10 swapped someone mentioned aswell, but yeah Lotus needs to step up their game. We need another platform so that Hennessey can turn it into an even bigger monster >:D
I like this. im excited to see what it can do when its fully completed. and how it sounds when the interior has been finished.
