Feast Your Eyes On The Special Black And Gold Lotus Evora Headed Only For The US
Lotus is launching yet another new-but-not-really special edition of the Evora, this time for the US only. It’s rather pretty, too.
The Evora Sport 410 GP Edition takes the brilliant Sport 400, chops out 60kg of flab and adds a lick of black and gold paint inspired by 1970s Lotus F1 cars. It’s acting as a sort of halo model to introduce the 410 to the States, where up to now the 400 has been the best available.
Let’s be honest, it looks stunningly good. More cars should be painted black and gold. Frankly, you could paint a Nissan Micra black and gold and it would be cool. Leave your example renders below if you like…
Lotus has suggested a strange ordering setup, because while this exact special edition is limited to just five cars, buyers who don’t make the cut can apparently still order an Evora Sport 410 in this colour scheme anyway. It’s essentially the same spec as the version we’ve already seen in the UK, so count on a top speed of 190mph and the ability to smash the 0-62mph sprint in 3.9 seconds.
It shares the same 3.5-litre supercharged V6 we know and love, in combination with a lightweight flywheel, a limited-slip differential and water-to-air charge cooling. The wheels are special lightweight items that save 7.2kg, the titanium exhaust saves 10kg and a lithium-ion battery saves 10.8kg.
Prices start at $104,200 excluding taxes, and rise to $110,000 for the full GP Edition. A Porsche 911 Carrera S might be about $10,000 cheaper, but is it better? That’s a tough one.
