8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

It’s been three and a half years since the initial release of the gaming powerhouse that is GTA V and over two years since it hit eighth-gen consoles, but I’m still loving it
8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

1. An escape

8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

I don’t know if I’m the only one, but GTA V is a good escape for me. If I want to get rid of some aggression or just immerse myself in a virtual world for a bit, then I can. The open world aspect is the main reason but it also just allows you to do whatever you want in a gaming environment.

2. Cunning Stunts

8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

I’m not the biggest fan of heists but I do love racing, so clearly the cheekily-named Cunning Stunts update was right up my street. It was a pretty exciting addition and I’m still finding the odd race or circuit that I haven’t yet tried.

3. Cunning Stunts: Special Vehicle Circuit

8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

Wait, what? Even more awesome stunt races, featuring special vehicles too? Yep, this was another enjoyable update that helped freshen up the online racing aspect. 20 incredible races for the epic Rocket Voltic, Ruiner 2000 & Blazer Aqua special vehicles makes for a lot of crazy virtual racing action. I’m slightly obsessed…

4. Regular updates

8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

If you’re not a regular GTA V player, you might not realise just how many updates have been added to the game. There’s a consistent stream of new and updated content, which helps keep things interesting and means there’s usually something new to try out. The fact Rockstar is still churning out these pretty sizeable updates so long after the initial release is very cool.

5. A drive around

8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

As someone who lives in London and uses public transport all the time, I really miss driving a car. Sure, using a controller to drive around while sitting on the sofa isn’t realistic at all, but there is something weirdly enjoyable about speeding around Los Santos when I’m bored.

It’s probably a bit sad that I know Los Santos better than my own local area, though.

6. Extra cars

8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

One of the best things about the regular updates are the new cars you get. Not all of the additions are to my taste but it’s cool to see new cars on the road, available to buy or race online – the Progen Tyrus, BF Ramp Buggy and Truffade Nero are particular favourites at the moment.

7. So. Much. Content.

8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

Because I usually focus on racing in GTA Online whenever I fire up the game, that means I still have loads of features to explore when I eventually lose interest in the Custom Stunt Series races – such as the heists I haven’t completed.

8. More money, less problems

8 Reasons Why I’m Still Playing GTA V

Rockstar’s double RP and money rewards, alongside discounts, mean I can actually afford the cars I want and splash the cash on a snazzy house in the hills. Which always makes the experience a bit nicer.

So, for those reasons, I’m still regularly selecting GTA V from my PS4 game selection and loading up Los Santos. Anyone else?

I’m sitting here with a PS3 (which got kind of the Demo-treatment after all).
No updates, no stunts, less content…

I want to plug the old Xbox One back in and play some GTA now, or any racing game to be honest…

I remember how excited I was when the Lowrider DLC came out…. until we all learned that instead of paying $40 for the DLC we had to pay $40 per bloody car. As a result I hate GTA now. I cannot justify spending that much money on a video game.
(And before you tell me to “grind”. I make all my real money grinding at work haha. I’m not going to come home to “grind” doing the same boring nonsense on a video game. It should be made to get a reasonable about of money just enjoying the game, like story mode)

You don’t need to pay for dlc right?

Totally agree with you here. I put in 42+ a week, I don’t play video games to work - I wanna have fun.

I keep a heavily modded version of it installed on my PC. It is a great escape, and I often find myself firing it up with no real intentions, and playing for an hour, giggling to myself, or just taking in the sights.

had a slow-a** PC back then, tried this. I probably ain’t sticking to GTA V thanks to
g l o r i o u s m o d d e r s
(oh, now I got new one with not-so-slow HP Pavilion. 940MX + 7500U inside, did the job well.)
FYI: It’s called NFS San Andreas, one of the MTA servers. Best one by far in terms of racing.

I recently got rid of the game. Because I never played it. I spent more time in the loading screens then actually playing it online. And it took even longer to join friends! And when your not joining friends and you do get in a lobby, there’s always someone in the bloody jet that kills everyone as everytime they spawn.
The custom events that people make are absolutely shocking and always benefit just one player.

I enjoyed campaign but it think it can only be played once. And when the game first came out I enjoyed it alot back then. But i think the game has gone massively down hill for me.
